August 2006
Seth, 13 years old, is beginning a journey that not many kids take. Through his positive attitude, and his tremendous faith in God, he inspires his parents and sister so they will be able to make the journey with him.
8-06 We went in to have braces placed and they found a "cyst". After a biopsy it was determined to be cancer. Seth has leiomyosarcoma cancer. It is a cancer of the smooth muscle and is located in the lower jaw area. 4 people in a million get this cancer! Seth has had what is called a "port" placed in his chest. This is a small tube where they will put drugs (chemotherapy) into his body to help kill the cancer cells. He will also have radiation treatment to help shrink the cancer. The cancer has damaged the lower jaw, so surgery will be necessary to remove and replace the lower jaw with leg bone and titanium. After surgery, chemotherapy will be done to make sure all cancer cells are gone.
Each day, in some way, our friends and family make our life easier. Your smiles will help us find ours. Your concerns will remind us that we are loved. Your words will lift us up or steer us in the right direction. Everyday, when people count their blessings, ours will be our God, family and friends!
Seth, age 14,
left us on May 24, 2007
and we will forever be changed.
Goodbye to our best buddy
soccer and baseball player
