Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  As most of you know by now, Sean had a major heart attack at the end of June 2017.  He went to the ER with the only symptom of shortness of breath.  (we found out at a later date that the symptom he was having was from the congestive heart failure not the heart attack).  His heart catherization showed that he has 2-3 blocked arteries.  2 complete and 1 partial.  He had a intraaortic balloon pump to rest his heart and then was transferred from Lancaster Regional Medical Center to Hershey Medical Center (HMC).  The doctors at HMC studied the testing he had done and did several more tests to determine that he was not a candidate for open heart surgery to fix the arteries and to restore blood flow.  The lower portion of his heart is "dead" ; not viable and grafting new arteries to restore blood flow would not revive it.  His EF at that time was 15%.  There is a group of cardiologists, therapists, surgeons, coordinators, social workers etc who meet every week to discuss cases like Sean's.  It has been determined that Sean would be fast tracked to heart transplantation.  This is his only option at this point.  Testing began for clearance and Sean was listed with UNOS for heart transplant at the end of July.  Please follow the journals for updates and for prayer requests as this is the most challenging journey we have yet to be on.
