Where do I start? What a whirlwind. Two weeks ago Scott went to the eye doctor, he doesn’t even have vision problems, but I think it’s good to get your eyes checked every couple of years.  So, he humors me. 😂

There he had a high blood pressure reading and the doc found indications of high blood pressure in his eyes (did you know they can find all sorts of health issues in your eyes? AMAZING!). This prompted a call to establish care with a doctor here, we’re generally healthy so Scott hadn’t done that in Arizona yet. He met with the doctor the following Monday, January 29. His blood pressure was lower, but still high. The doctor wanted to monitor and take a full lab panel. The next morning he had fasting blood work done and we went on with our life.

Friday he got sick again, he had been battling what we thought was an upper respiratory infection and some headaches. A few times over the course of the month the headaches led to vomiting, but then he would feel fine. We chalked it up to allergies as similar things happen at change of season for him.

I had picked up a blood pressure cuff to monitor his blood pressures and he did that Friday and Saturday. They progressively got worse at their highest they ran 202/140. This prompted us to call our doctor after hours and he prescribed a medication that would help us get through the weekend.

On Monday, February 5. The doctor called Scott with his lab results and said we needed to go directly to the ER, that he was in kidney failure. So that’s what we did!
