Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On Thursday, August 12th, 2021 Scott felt weak and fell while at work in St. Cloud, MN; he realized he may be having a stroke, and told co-workers to call for help.  He was then taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital; it was apparent that his left side was affected, but he was slowly improving.  An MRI was then done at 2 am, and a CT scan on Friday afternoon.  These revealed that Scott had actually suffered 3 minor strokes in the right side of his brain.  However, at this time he was improving and was conversational; he even had walked slowly to the bathroom a few times.  But the tests had also shown that his carotid artery was almost, or completely blocked.  They had planned, at that time, to wait until the following day (Saturday) to start him on a blood thinner, or evaluate the need for a stent/ surgery.
On Saturday, August 14th, Scott went weak on the left side again. They did a CT scan and  whisked him off to do the surgery to put a stent in.  This was successful, but the surgeon did advise that there was a slight chance of bleeding after the procedure.  They did another CT scan which then revealed a new massive stroke and bleed on the right side of the brain.  Because of this, they needed to again do surgery to drill into Scott's skull to release the pressure on the brain and drain out some of the blood.   Yet another surgery was done on Thursday, August 19th in which a tracheostomy was done, and a feeding tube also inserted in order to make him more comfortable.  He is now beginning physical and occupational therapies, and we are praising God for these successful procedures and progress!
Scott continues to be in the St. Cloud Hospital where he is being closely monitored.  Because of the COVID-19 hospital protocols, Scott is only allowed 2 visitors from the immediate family in to see him at this time.  Therefore, he is not allowed any company.  Please check in here to this site if you would like updates on his condition, as we will be updating it frequently as things change.
If you would like to help, the best way right now that you could do that is to pray.  We believe in the power of prayer and that God can and will do a miracle in healing Scott.  Also please keep the family- Karen, Joshua, Justin, Nikki, Jackie, Eric, and Ryan, and extended family in your thoughts and prayers as well- for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."  Jeremiah 17:14
