As many of you are hearing about Scott's illness, we decided to put together a Caringbridge site to keep you all in the loop and to ease the burden on Lynette as she works to kick Cancers ass and regain her strength.

Scott has not been feeling well for some time now and has complained of stomach issues which has led to some pretty extreme weight loss. As of his birthday last month, May 19th, he was down to 145 lbs. As a guy who usually rolls in the 180 range, that much weight loss was alarming. I don't think it is a surprise to anyone that Scott wasn't fond of doctors and doctor appointments so he lived with this condition for awhile. After a scope of his throat it was shown that he had a tumor which was cancerous and was officially diagnosed with an aggressive form of Esophageal cancer.  A PET scan determined that the cancer did in fact spread to other parts of his body (liver, lungs and lymph nodes) for sure. In an effort to ease his pain and to help him sleep and possibly bring back some of appetite he was given some pretty strong pain killer patches.  Scott is in a position now where pain management is a major focus as he has been weak from not eating and sleep deprived from back and other pain. The prognoses is still undetermined as he has some options for chemo if he chooses to move forward. The chemo is going to be very aggressive as well and he has major battle staring him down one way or another.

As Scott's family member, I pray for peace in his mind and pain relief for his body.  Scott recently turned 38 and although he wasn't in the position that many of us would like to have seen, he was doing what he knew and what his depression and anxiety would allow. After texting with him on this birthday, I was very optimistic that the old Scott we knew was starting to show some light. As with many of you, I was absolutely devastated by this news and cannot imagine Scott not being around even though we hadn't spoken in a few years. He is a strong willed fighter and I pray that he has the strength to give this fight his best. We will try and update everyone as we are able.
