As most (if not all) of you know by now, Scott was out on a training run on the night of January 25th, and was hit by a drunk driver just minutes away from home. He is currently at Mission Hospital and is suffering from a severe head trauma as well as multiple fractures throughout his body (ribs, back, nose, scapula, tibia, ankle). Thankfully he has had no major organ injuries.  He is currently on a ventilator, and was sedated for the first couple of days; however, the doctors have taken him off of sedation as of January 27th. At this point, we are waiting for him to wake up from his coma, and at that time we will know the severity of his brain damage.

Scott is a teacher within the Capistrano Unified School District; he teaches 5th grade at Laguna Niguel Elementary School. His wife, Christy, is a CICU nurse at Mission Hospital. He has received great care from all of the doctors and nurses while he has been in the hospital. Scott is also a four-time Ironman triathlete. He had been training for his next race, Ironman Boulder, which is in June. He is an amazing husband, father, brother, son, and teacher. He embodies strength and power, and we all know he will be able to win this fight. Scott's family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support that they have received. We will post updates on his conditions as they occur. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.
