Ptr. Felipe Lumanta is the head pastor of New Life Church in Maitum, Sarangani, Mindanao, Philippines. For almost two decades, the Lord has been using his life to reach out and minister to the T'boli tribe and to other parts of Mindanao. In the past few years, the Lord has also opened opportunities for him to minister to a Filipino community in South Korea. And it was on March 9, 2017, during the course of his daily ministry routine, that he was found unconscious on a sidewalk in Korea. He had to undergo surgery right away as the doctors found blood clots in his brain and later on suffered cerebral hemorrhage.
The surgery was a success and the doctors were very keen on the after care. At this point, every form of medical and life support, like catheter and ventilator, have already been removed as his condition has started to improve.
His son, Fritz and his daughter, Sunshine traveled to Korea to look after him, and to continue handling the ministry that Ptr. Felipe has started in South Korea. He is still in the ICU, and the doctors are still monitoring and performing tests on his brain activity. His wife, Ptra. Eden, is currently processing her visa to visit and support Ptr. Felipe during this challenging phase.
However, Ptr Felipe remains in a coma for more than a month now and the medical bills are piling up. The Korean hospital has been so gracious in conducting all required medical procedures even when most of these have not been paid yet. Currently, the bill is at 52 million Kwon, which is roughly $46,000. An update on the bill is set to be released by the end of this week.
As such, we knock at the door of your hearts for your help, compassion and concern for this great man of God in prayer and finances. The whole church in Maitum, together with his family, hopes to see him go back to his healthy stature. And it is when we help that we can make it possible.
