December 10,2016 Well.....She’s home!!!! After 10 days in the hospital and 6 hour surgery she has made it home. It’s been quite an experience as you can all imagine and well Sarah’s synchronized swimming training helped her get through it. And of course the many well wishes from all of you.
Our friends Carrie and Kelly (aka Guy Kelly) have set up a “Caring Bridge” website which you will all be invited to join so that you can keep up to date on Sarah’s progress and leave any inspiring messages. This would help us so much as we can check it daily and people’s messages will be posted. So please check it out once you get an invite and please accept!
So we head down to Princess Margaret mid week to discuss her chemo plan and schedule. Right now we are really keeping quiet and just letting Sarah heal from her surgery. She has CCAC nurse coming in to check in on her so hopefully she will keep healing and be strong for when chemo starts.
Your prayers and positive vibes must be working as she made it through surgery and the doctors were happy with her recovery. And Sarah is feeling better too. It takes a village to raise a child and thanks so much for being a part of ours.
November 26, 2016 Hi everyone, Here is a quick update......
Monday she has her Gastro-Intestinal tests Wednesday she goes for pre-admission/op appointment Thursday is her surgery date.
She will be in hospital for three days for her surgery. We will be staying in Toronto from Tuesday onwards and will try and check emails daily. Please respond to emails as my phone is getting overloaded with calls and texts and the battery isn’t copying well. Isn’t that amazing....we are getting so much support and love that it is killing my blackberry! 😉
I will update everyone as soon as I can and please continue to send us your prayers, support and positive thoughts.
November 24, 2016 Hi all our dear friends and family,
After sending out an article on Sunday evening with the information on Dysgerminoma we found out that it no longer applies to Sarah. Sorry for the false hope.
We were called down to Princess Margaret on Monday morning as there was some new information and a change in her diagnosis. This was because of the liver biopsy results. They now believe based on more investigation that the cancer actually started in her gastro-intestanal system so she needs more tests to explore this theory.
So she is no longer going to have chemo for Dysgerminoma tumors as we previously thought. Once some other tests are done, we will have more answers. Once this is determined then she will have surgery on her ovaries and possibly her uterus too and then we will know more about chemo treatment that will follow.
Please excuse our group email communication but I am sure many of you can appreciate how exhausting it is to repeat all this information especially after we thought we knew where we were at but then it changed. So we will send out another update when we know what is up.
We cannot thank you enough for all your thoughts, prayers and many messages. You all mean so much to us so your kind words and support are getting us through this rocky journey. Please continue to send them to us as it gives us strength, we may just not answer or respond to them......but know that we do read all of them and they do make a difference to us.
