As you may have heard, Sarah received some difficult news recently. After hearing "multiple myeloma", Sarah responded in her usual fiercely positive manner and focused on solutions in order to heal and recover. Unfortunately, she had an extreme pain crisis on 8/20 that made hospitalization necessary. In the hospital they worked to get her pain under control from complications such as multiple spinal fractures due to the disease process, and further testing to determine the best plan. Sarah was discharged from the hospital and arrived back at ELC via ambulance in the early morning hours on 8/28. Recovery and healing is going to be a long and involved process.
We know how loved Sarah is, how she has touched so many with her beautiful, sweet heart and spirit, and we know that many people want to help. The most immediate need is a financial one. In addition to living expenses, renovations must be made to her home in order to make it safe for her. If you are able, and feel called to help in this way, Sarah has a Venmo account where you can donate without fees and the money goes directly into Sarah's bank account. Sarah's Venmo is @Sarah-Thorsen. Our goal is $10,000. We will post updates periodically to let you know where we are toward this goal, and also to let you know how our beloved Sarah is doing. Please note that a tribute donation to Caring Bridge is to support the organization and that's great, but that money does not go to Sarah, just FYI for clarity.
