On July 30th, 2020 Sarah had her first mammogram, a few months earlier she had felt a small lump in her left breast.  The mammogram showed a mass but was inconclusive.  So that same day she was sent to have a 3D ultrasound which also came back inconclusive. 2 days later she had an ultra sound guided biopsy. That Friday the doctor called her and said it was positive for malignancy and that she would need to have a lumpectomy followed with radiation.

August 5th, 2020 was our first appointment with the surgeon.  The surgeon diagnosed her with infiltrating ductal carcinoma. The good news is that this is a 90% curable type of cancer. The surgeon wanted a 3d Mammogram and an ultrasound of the right side also as well as an MRI to make sure there were no other spots for concern.  Sarah completed all those tests and we were told there was an additional area of concern that they were going to excise during the lumpectomy.

September 10th, 2020 lumpectomy .  Both spots were removed but pathology on the 2nd spot came back that the margins were not clear and a re-excision would be necessary.

October, 1st, 2020 day of re-excision.  The margins came back clear. Next step visit with Oncology and Radiation doctors.

October, 14th, 2020  day of Oncology appointment. The doctor was concerned due to Sarah being under age 50 with her diagnosis and her cancer was Stage 1, Grade 3 (aggressive) the 2nd spot of cancer was Ductal Carcinoma Insitu. The oncologist wants to run a DNA test on Sarah to see what specific treatment that would be best for the type of cancer Sarah had been diagnosed with.  The test is the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence test.  The oncologist wanted to see a score for Sarah that is < 17.

October 29th, 2020, 2nd Oncology appointment, Sarah's Oncotype DX score was 31...Chemotherapy here we come.  Next step is placing a port for chemotherapy (11/5/20), Chemotherapy training session, and then actual Chemotherapy following.
