Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

When facing new challenges in life, it is always important to have a strong support system; a foundation of people that you can turn to and lean on for

endless unconditional support and love. The Stoneking family has always been surrounded with exactly that. Our extended family members, including those

at Aldersgate church, and friends and have provided that blessing a thousands times over. This constant outpouring of selflessness and love is

overwhelmingly touching.

Sandy and Brad enjoyed a road trip this spring during which Sandy was experiencing stomach pain after eating. This pain intensified on their return home,

which prompted making an appointment to see a doctor. However, due to scheduling difficulties she was unable to get in until the first week of May. This

made directing the annual bell choir concert at Aldersgate on April 30th, the “Spring Ring”, a very daunting and difficult task.

At the end of the hour-long concert it was very obvious that Sandy needed immediate medical attention and was taken to the emergency room at

Methodist hospital. Radiographs revealed a mass on her pancreas. An endoscopy the next day confirmed the diagnosis of Pancreatic cancer. Through a liver

biopsy it was discovered that the cancer had metastasized to the liver. After a trip to the Mayo clinic for a second opinion, the diagnosis was confirmed as

Stage Four Pancreatic cancer. It helped that the treatment protocol recommended by Mayo exactly matched that of Sandy’s oncologist (whom Sandy really

likes!) Dr. Melissa Sherman at Park Nicollet.
