Many of you may have been aware of Sandy's health issues for the past several months. We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers.
Her health issues persisted with very few answers as to what was going on. Just after Christmas she was able to get an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester to look specifically at the fracture in her back. Very quickly, the doctors at Mayo were able to provide us some answers, even though the answers were not what we wanted. We have learned that Sandy has stage four cancer which has spread to many parts of her body including her kidney, spine, and lungs. A team of wonderful doctors who are specializing in Oncology, Orthopedics, and Urology are putting together a treatment plan. The treatments are focused on stopping the growth and making sure that she is as comfortable and pain free as possible.
She continues to have the same positive outlook she has always had. She is fighting hard, and after months of fighting this cancer on her own, we are sure that with treatment she will have a higher quality of life than the past few months have brought her. As of this writing she has had one round of radiation treatment on the tumor in her spine, which is specifically to help relieve the pain that has debilitated her for the past few months. We will continue to update this site as her treatments continue.
Even though the news was very hard to bear for all of us, our faith in God will guide us through this journey. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
