On September 17th 2018 Sandy went for arthroscopic surgery to have her gallbladder removed.  The surgery was stopped immediately after the doctor found what looked to be several tumors and fluid in her abdomen.  A biopsy was taken and on Thursday, September 20th, it was confirmed that she had ovarian cancer.  On September 25th a CT scan was performed and on September 27th they spoke to an oncologist about the results.  The scan showed a small amount of fluid around part of one lung and tumors in her abdomen but nothing had spread beyond the abdomen wall.  On Friday the 28th, Sandy and Dave drove to Danville to see a gynecological oncologist where they went over the plan to attack the cancer.  They were very optimistic, saying finding this at Sandy's "young age" and the amount of cancer found that chemo is the way to go, and expecting good results.  She will start Chemo on October 3rd at the Geisinger clinic here in state college.
