Mom and Dad went through a lot over the last several years. From Mom falling and cracking her head probably as a result of her heart irregularly skipping a beat, to Dad with his heart surgery and kidney dialysis. It seems we were just making changes to the house they had lived in for over 50 years so that they could continue to live there. Then Dad is gone and we realize that Mom can never be left by herself.
So we found a place for Mom, an assisted living facility in Hugo, which is not far from her home in Circle Pines. All of the staff were wonderful and so good to her, but she needed more care. We were lucky enough to be able to move Mom to memory care, called Sunny Cove, at the same facility. The staff continued to be wonderful and to recognize Mom’s kindness and dry sense of humor.
Unfortunately, Mom has continued to struggle, mentally and physically, and we are once again trying to determine the best place for her. She may be able to return to Sunny Cove or we might have to find another place that will be better for her.
No matter what, we will be there for her as she has always been there for us.
