Welcome to Sandy's site. This is Sara (the youngest daughter) I will do my best to keep the information available as up to date as possible. We appreciate in advance your prayers and well wishes for Mom. Here is her story so far.... Mom discovered a lump in her neck October 2nd and it quickly grew in size and after some encouragement from Lisa she saw her doctor and immediately. He sent her right over to have an ultrasound and then a CT scan. The CT results were concerning for lymphoma so she then had needle biopsies of the mass in her neck. The pathology confirmed the diagnosis of B cell lymphoma. She met her Oncologist on Tuesday to make a plan of care. Over the past week Mom has undergone a litany of tests to determine the specific type of lymphoma including a PET Scan, echocardiogram, multiple blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy. She will be getting her port (that she will receive her chemo medications through) surgically placed on Monday. She will meet with the Oncologist again early Tuesday morning and then promptly head up to the Infusion Dept. to start her Chemo Journey. As far as we know now, she will be receiving multiple medications once a week every 3 weeks for 6 cycles. She may have a change in that schedule depending onpending results. It sounds like the medications will make her quite ill so we are counting on many prayers for her strength and comfort as well as prayers for my Dad. This has been quite a shock to Mom, Dad and our family. It's physically and emotionally exhausting. We are leaning on our faith in God and look to him for guidance thoughout this entire process. We are very fortunate to have such strong support from so many friends and family members. Thank you for everything.
