Sandra (Sandie) Nahmens September 12, 1941 – May 15, 2016

Janesville, WI – Sandie (Befus) Nahmens peacefully passed away May 15, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Born in Sheboygan, Sandie grew up in Madison, graduating from East High School in 1959. She became a proficient and valuable Executive Assistant providing her organizational skills to a number of businesses in the Madison area, Elkhart, IN, and the last 22 years in Janesville. Her last position was with Rock County Child Support where she provided dedicated support and services to the county, families and children.

Sandie will be remembered and loved for her‘ bigger-than-life’ personality, enthusiasm to champion for the underdog, her granny square afghans, her love of family, movies of all kind, hot air balloons, picture puzzles, and her realized dream of seeing the world while floating under a parachute.

She is survived by her children Teresa (Loren) Burkeland, son Bradford Gest; her forever friend and ex-husband Earl Nahmens; her extended Nahmens family, EJ, Bill, Greg, Mike, Terri (Oppermann), Geraldine (Owen), Larry, Becky and Gary Green, JJ McChesney and families; sister Peggy Hendrickson and her children Monica and Derek Smith and families; granddaughter Jenny Blaser, great-grandson Ethan Blaser; and her loving companion, Kyte Gyrl.  She was preceded in death by her mother Nettie Befus Ballard, father Harvey Befus, step-father William Ballard, and her very dear friend Carl Paul Treat.

The family appreciates the loving professional care Sandie received from the Mercy Hospital and nursing staff, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Physical Therapy departments and the wonderful staff at AgraceHospiceCare. We extend our gratitude to Cargill United Methodist Church Pastor Susan for her spiritual calming words and prayers and to all of Sandie’s wonderful extended family, friends, church family and co-workers who reached out to her and visited her during her declining health, treatments and end of life journey.

A celebration of Sandie’s life followed by a picnic lunch will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at Cargill United Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville, WI.  Memorials to pay for end of life expenses may be given in her name at: www.gofundme.com (http://www.gofundme.com).
