On April 25th, 2017, I took Sammy to the Hutch clinic for some leg pain. After an exray it was determined that he has cancer. They mentioned Ewing's sarcoma, but that wasn't set in stone. After a PET scan and bone marrow biopsy he was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia on May 4th, 2017. Sammy started his first stage of treatment on May 8th, 2017. He will have intense therapy for the first 6-9 months and then maitenence therapy for the following 2.5-3 years.
