Well here I am, I truly have faith in God that he will guide us through this too. We all enjoyed a State Fair visit on Saturday before this upcoming Labor Day weekend. When we got home Sam complained of a headache so I gave him Tylenol to see if that would help. It was a long day of walking so we all had a quiet evening and early to bed. Sunday came and Sam didn't come up to say good morning as normal but I figured he was still tired. He was actually awake so I went downstairs to give him a big squeeze and say good morning. He said his head still hurt , I wanted to get him to eat something this time before I gave him Tylenol but he wasn't hungry. So I said you might still be tired and needed to try and sleep again. He did and later got that Tylenol he still needed for the headache. Low key day that Sunday was. Monday came and I started working my new job at 6am for Northfield High School. It was our get ready day for us before the start of school on Sept. 4th. I went down and gave my two boys their morning smooches before I started my new work journey. Texted back and forth to Scott to see if all was going ok and called once to talk to them. Sam wanted to just hear my voice so I chatted a few minutes and he once again complained of a head ache and his back hurt too. I told him I would be home soon and I would check on him them. Well he was still complaining of headache and back pain and needed to go to the chiropractor to help, So it made sense to me and off we went to see Dr.Pete. He adjusted both boys and Sam said it was good. That evening while tucking Sam in and saying prayer he complained of being super hot,so he uncovered and I noticed red spots on the trunk of his body and I right away asked if he was outside without a shirt so the skeeters got ya he said nope wasn't outside without a shirt. Hmm my mind is thinking of all these headaches, back pain and now this red spots I need to monitor.Tuesday came (8/28) and I was visiting a few friends from my Blind School cook job which I was no longer working at with taking on the new Child Nutrition job at NHS. While there Sam called and said he had gotten sick but didn't make a mess( bless his heart) . So I headed home to hear again of a headache and asked where it hurt he said all over my head like someone's squeezing it.. I then in my head started to add up all these symptoms and the" NO WAY" is this happening feeling flooded me. You see Scott at the age of 9 had bad headaches right after school started and as most of you know it was a very difficult time for me because that 7 week children's hospital stay was a result of the same symptoms headache lots of red spots fevers etc. I instantly felt sick to my stomach when Sam explained his headache It was exactly how Scott explained it to me. I was on the phone instantly getting Sam into a Dr. clinic visit. Visit #1 was told must be a virus keep up with tylenol. Wednesday was next it was a go meet Sam's teacher day and take pictures( red spots now growing to his face, arms, legs well everywhere. He was concerned that people would see them in his pictures so I reassured him if they are noticable we will have them redone in Oct. The morning was good he was now excited to go to 3rd grade because he met his nice teacher he said. Mark and Scott and Sam and I all went to the high school to go over Scott schedule so he know where all his classes were. While walking the halls there Sam was complaining of not being able to walk much more so big brother Scott gave him a piggy back ride for awhile. Then Sam and I sat and waited for Mark and Scott to finish their walk through. I decided to take Sam in  again to the Dr. this time I was told yes something is not right but to take him to Children's to be seen in the er. So there  at 5 pm driving Sam and I to St.Paul Children's. There they told me after several hours and blood work that it all looked good white blood cell count was ok but his liver counts were slightly elevated and to follow up with his Dr. in a few days. GRRR so Thursday now arrived I'm begining to think I'm a crazy Mom and I'm being panicked becasue of going through the ordeal I did with Scott I need to simmer down. BUT I didn't he wasn't better so I again went to his Dr. and she looked at him and said so you know the deal you've been through this--- if it was her child go to Mayo. OK I just needed someone to tell me  that I wasn't CRAZY. Sam and I got to Mayo in the evening and have been here ever since that Thursday night. After  Lumbar puncture and blood work they confirmed Meningitis but they still don't know the strain or cause of it. Sam continues to stay the same or go down hill between the head hurting and neck pain and now back pain from the LP plus the horrible temps of 102-105 always,  he is miserable BUT he still presses on as I do too. I'm not one to sit back and not speak my mind and glad we are here  under doctors care but I still am letting them know when things seem off and make them get answers. I'm not backing down I'm a fighting Mama!
