A few months ago, my dad Sam, started to notice a dull ache in his abdomen. The best way to describe it was "uncomfortable." Being that he is extremely in tune with his body and has only had a handful of stomach aches in his life (lucky him!), he knew that something just wasn't right. Unfortunately, it took 1-2 months for him to get to the doctor and then wait on insurance approval for a CT scan. On Friday, July 15th, he finally had that CT scan. His doctor then called him just a few hours later with the news that flipped our world upside down. He was told he had a growth on his pancreas that was 3 cm long. Just 5 days later, it was confirmed that it was Pancreatic Cancer, stage II. 

This page is meant to help share our journey with all of the many people that we love and care about. It will also be a great way to keep everyone updated as we walk through this unknown territory. Throughout this process, you may hear us refer to dad's diagnosis and treatment as "Project PanCan." If you know my dad at all, you know that he loves to talk about plans and projects, and he also is known for his many abbreviations, or more appropriately "abbrevs." Therefore, Project PanCan seemed to fit the bill, and it adds just a touch of my dad's humor that we all know and love. It's going to be the most challenging project of not only his life, but all of us who can't imagine life without him. But we know that with the right attitude, amazing doctors and medical care, and LOTS and LOTS of love and prayer, we can get through this and come out on the other side better. As Sam's Souldiers, we will all help him along the way. We've GOT this.
