On July 8th Sam was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and while it's a scary diagnosis, we are very confident that Sam will beat this! While this not the news that any 28 year old is expecting to hear, we are staying positive and taking it one day at a time. We know that there will be some fantastic days and some tough days. We appreciate all the support that our friends and family have shown so far and will continue to show through this battle.
Additionally, one of the main symptoms that Sam experienced in the lead up to this diagnosis was bright red blood in his stool. While this symptom does not typically mean cancer, we advocate that if you or a loved one experiences this symptom, you go to your doctor immediately. We have heard numerous stories of people experiencing this symptom and either ignoring it or waiting too long to visit their doctor.
