Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
My name is Jovanny Pinto alias Gio.  I was diagnosed with ALLPH+ (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Philadelphia Chromosome) back on December 17, 2017.  It happens to be the most aggressive type of Leukemia for my age group.   Couple days prior to my diagnosed I experienced aches on my arms, it felt like I had worked out for hours, I then felt weak and tired.  My mom noticed a couple of bruises on my arms and also noticed color discoloration on my face which led her to take me to the ER in Elmhurst, IL.  After examining my blood they said that my counts were very low, which led to the transfer to Rush Memorial Hospital, which is were they confirmed my diagnosis.  I spent 7 weeks in the hospital before getting released.  I had five doses of chemotherapy through the seven weeks, side effects experienced  1. brain bleed kept me in ICU for five days (stable and in control now) 2. bacterial infection in my stool which caused infection to my skin which led to surgery on my tush : ) 3.  kidney and pancreas inflammation  4.  constant fevers  5.  constant vomiting.
I was released from the hospital late January and since then I have been in and out from the hospital due to the side effects mentioned above.   I have had another three doses of chemo and working on my fourth round this week (March 6).  I'm suppose to received five total doses so I have one more left to go after this week, along with a doses of radiation.  Rush is preparing me for a stem cell transplant and/or bone marrow transplant so it will probably be eight to ten weeks from today before I'm ready for the procedure.  I'm currently on a nationwide site for bone marrow transplant donors through the hospital, currently they have two donors that are 100% match, as of now we are reaching out to anyone out there who is willing to become a donor to please do so.  We highly encourage you to donate, you may not necessarily be my match but you will definitely be a match for someone in need of one.  I know God is control of my life and my strong faith with God tells me no to worry, He's got this! can I get an amen, Amen.  God's message to me; by my stripes you are healed son, seek me and you will find me, speak to me and I will answer, question me and I will smack you, lol....Do not worry, I'm your Father and I'm here to protect you, speak your request for donors to save life's and I will find donors to save life's, so that is exactly what I'm doing.  God bless all you who are reading my story, thank you all for your amazing prayers, I sincerely am grateful to have such an awesome God by my side and together Him and I are victorious!!
