RYAN THOMASON

Contact one of us for V.E.N.M.O. contact info) We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  As Ryan's friends and loved ones know,  Ryan currently is in stage 4 metastatic melanoma and it has invaded his lungs and brain.   Ryan began his second course of (infusion) immunotherapy and most recently has undergone the lung Wedge Resection and cranial Gamma Knife surgery, both to remove multiple lesions.  The immunotherapy has caused serious side effects and has been stopped by his oncologist.  It has caused pituitary and thyroid conditions and in the last week he was in Critical Adrenal Crisis (on top of suffering intense pain,  nausea,  vomiting and diarrhea, massive headaches,  excessive painful rash, physical instability and some cognition disruptions).  Recent CT scans and blood work at first showed improvement by shrinking lesions, but now indicate further advancement in the disease.   Ryan has missed work over the last few weeks,  unable to get out of bed,  yet has rallied to attend Thanksgiving dinner and go in to work  for several hours each day.  Fortunately the cortisteroid he's taking has helped with his massive exhaustion as well as his cognition.  Improvement overall may not be possible. He is in Palliative Care but most likely will advance in patient care.
