Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Ryan was diagnosed with Left Ventricular Cardiomyopathy about 3 years ago. In layman's terms, his heart is enlarged and cannot work as efficiently as it should. We lived with this diagnosis without too many problems for some time. Medication, Cardio Rehab, and regular visits to the doctor kept his health in check. Up until two weeks ago, things were wonderful.

We have kept things really quiet because we believed his condition would improve through medication adjustment and regular physical activity. Unfortunately, he has progressively developed shortness of breath, trouble sleeping, and serious fatigue.

He consulted with his wonderful primary Cardiologist, Dr. Valdez, and we were informed that it was time to seek alternative treatment. In other words, LVAD placement and bridge to heart transplant. An LVAD is an external pump which compensates for the heart's deficiencies and prolongs life for a person waiting for a heart transplant.

I have received many wonderful thoughts and prayers for Ryan, but texting, calling, and relaying information can be overwhelming. I have set up this page to inform anyone who is interested in our progress to follow and have updates.

Just getting started, so please bear with me.
