Shortly before the twins' first birthday is April of 2017 after a long period of not feeling well and many tests and appointments, Ryan was diagnosed with several large tumors. They are a rare form of sarcoma and, when tested will come back as benign, but they have continued to grow in many different locations throughout his body. 

Over the past 10 months Ryan has had 4 surgeries to remove the tumors. A large tumor was removed from his abdominal area, one from his right lung and two from his left lung. The most recent surgery neurosurgeons scraped away part of a tumor that was pushing against his nerves near his lower vertebrae (L4) that were incredibly painful making it difficult for him to walk or function. We had been working with one hospital in Omaha but decided we needed a second opinion so we took him to the University of Nebraska Medical Center emergency department on January 24, 2018. 

After many MRI’s and CT scans we learned that he has multiple growths in various locations including at the base of his skull, on his lower vertebrae and tail bone, both hips and a femur. He has had a long 10 months both physically and emotionally so we are hopeful and optimistic that with a change in medical providers he will have some relief and we are on the right track to be able to overcome this. 

He will start some form of chemo soon but each day the plan seems to change a bit so we thought this would be a great way to keep everyone updated without spending a lot of time contacting everyone individually.
