Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
A little background on how we ended up here. Last week Ryan was scheduled to attend a work conference in Utah, but we thought he was coming down with a bad cold so he actually delayed his trip until Tuesday. Over the weekend, some friends from our neighborhood were flying out to meet him to do some biking. We figured that he could take some cold medication & make it through the conference and by the weekend we were hoping he'd feel well enough to bike.
He did bike on Friday but was clearly not feeling well and by dinner time his motor skills on his left side were acting strangely so our neighbors brought him to the emergency room in the small town where they were staying. They did a CT scan and some blood work and consulted via video with a neuro dr. in Denver and they released him. He still didn't feel great on Sat, but decided to stay try to tough it out.
On Sunday afternoon, they were heading for Grand Junction when Ryan's condition worsened and our neighbors turned around and brought him directly to the Moab ER. At that point they started treatment for a Stroke in progress and airlifted him to the University of Utah hospital. I got here about 10:00 last night.
