Hello everyone and thank you so much for visiting the CaringBridge site and checking in on Ryan. Ryan was admitted to Piedmont Hospital the week of July 6, 2020 after becoming jaundiced over the few days before admittance. It was discovered after a CAT scan that her bile ducts were suffering from a blockage and there was a mass on her colon. After a series of other tests, her doctors have diagnosed Ryan with Metastatic Colon Cancer that has spread to her liver. The doctors say that the first order of business is to tackle the issues with the liver before they are able to begin treatment to the colon. They will also be testing a biopsy performed last week to see if it may be genetic. Once the liver is better and we have results from the second test on the biopsy, we will be able to better decide how this will be beat.

In true Ryan fashion, she made friends with all of the Piedmont staff within 24 hours.  She also sang “Walk Away Renee” to her recovery nurse, Renee, after her biopsy, and then wanted to ride the floor cleaning machine in the hallway.  Ryan and her whole family are remaining incredibly positive during this time, and hope to talk or message all of you soon!

Ryan asks that any recommendations of treatment or doctors, etc be sent to Catherine Jones (cmcgalliard.jones@gmail.com). We set up this Caring Bridge in order to keep Ryan’s friends and family up to date on her progress.

Ryan greatly appreciates your support and words of hope and encouragement.
