Welcome to our Caring Bridge site. I will post updates here in an attempt to communicate with everyone about Ryan's progress. It has been a long road since July 15th and we appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers being sent Ryan's way.

Summary: On Friday, July 15th, Ryan was diagnosed with Heart Failure (cardiomyopathy) after experiencing some shortness of breath and exhaustion. He went to his family doctor who ultimately sent him to the ER for further testing. He spent a week in Memorial Hospital in South Bend, was later admitted to the Ohio State Heart Hospital (9/4/22), and eventually transferred to the University of Louisville Jewish Hospital (9/19/22). After many different treatment attempts with multiple medications, it was determined that Ryan's heart is too weak to recover with medicine and he would need advanced therapies to improve his condition. On 9/22/22 he was approved and added to the transplant list and is currently awaiting a heart transplant. I'll provide more details in future posts. Please know that Ryan has been one heck of a fighter through all of this. He has kept a positive attitude, still cracks lots of jokes, and is loved by all of the doctors and nurses. His two biggest concerns are his son Maks who he loves more than anything, and making sure that people learn more about heart failure so that no one has to experience what he has endured.

I'll post as much as I can as I learn more. We are thankful for your good vibes, thoughts and prayers!

With love,
Shannon (Ryan's sister)
