Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I will do kind of a timeline of events to catch everyone up. At the end of January Ryan felt a lump under his right arm. It was pretty painful so he went to see our family physician. From there they sent him over to get an ultrasound that showed there was a large lump in a lymph node under right arm along with some other spots in the same general area. On February 17th he had surgery to remove the lump for a biopsy to see what was going on. When we got the results back on February 22nd it was positive with Melanoma skin cancer. At that appointment the Dr. removed a mole on Ryan's right chest thinking that was the start of the skin cancer. When that biopsy came back it showed that mole was benign. All of the Dr's were pretty shocked that didn'tn show Melanoma. Monday February 27th Ryan got some lab test along with Pet scan and MRI. So today we met with Dr. Joshua Mammen with the University of Kansas Cancer Center we received the results of the Scans they showed the cancer is localized in one area under the right arm pit. The treatment plan is Tuesday March 14th Ryan will have surgery to remove all lymph nodes in that area on the right side under arm. Once that is completely healed he will start radiation treatment. We will be updating this site for whoever would like to follow our journey.  We appreciate thoughts and prayers and know God is with us every step of the way!
