Thank you for visiting Ryan's CaringBridge site! As many of you know, Ryan battled & defeated metastatic testicular cancer 12 years ago, & what a blessed 12 years we have had! Last November, at an annual check-up, we found out that there was some abnormalities in his lab work & his tumor markers started creeping up. Since then, he's had numerous tests, scans, & a visit to the world experts in testicular cancer in Indiana (Dr. Einhorn, our saving grace). Yesterday (Aug 25) we received news after a CT scan in Omaha that his cancer has in fact returned & it's a bit more than we bargained for. He has extensive disease throughout his abdomen & liver. So, Dr. Einhorn has recommended that he starts chemo as soon as possible. He will have the same chemo as before, it involves long infusions 5 days a week followed by 2 weeks off. He will do this for approximately the next 12 weeks (4 cycles). Dr. Einhorn is confident that he will respond "very well" to the chemo & that the masses will decrease in size. Then, we can go to Indiana & they can surgically resect both his abdominal lymph nodes & his liver. He said he can CURE him again this way! Ry is scheduled to get his port (for chemo) put in on Thursday & we will start chemo in North Platte with Dr. Awais next Tuesday through Saturday. The most important thing I can tell you is that Ryan feels fine, he has absolutely no symptoms! 
As you can imagine, telling this painful story over & over again has been quite exhausting, so, we thought having this CaringBridge site would be a great way to keep all of our family & friends informed of what is going on. We have already received such an outpouring of love & support we can't thank everyone enough! What we need from you is your prayers. Jesus is our healer & our life is in His hands. Pray for peace & understanding. Pray for strength & healing. Pray for our children. Pray for all of the people fighting this devastating disease. Thank Him that you have been blessed to have Ryan in your life & the joy that he brings to everyone who knows him. He's got this! For we can, indeed, "Do all things through Him who gives us strength." Philippians 4:13
