All our lives changed dramatically December 22nd when we received news our favorite 15-year old, Ry - Ryno - Ryan - Big Sauce, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his chest. His parents quickly transported him to Seattle Children's Hospital where he's currently receiving world class care within their Intensive Care Unit.
There have been many tests, lots of observations, and even a little laughter during this unimaginably difficult time.
Here's the latest: The results of Ryan's biopsy indicate he has Germ Cell cancer. The cancer is present in several areas of his body including his back, T-5, pelvis, and chest / lung. He will begin chemotherapy treatment after Christmas and it will last 90 days. Some of his treatments will be out-patient and some of them will be in-patient. Every couple weeks, Ryan will be in the hospital for about five days to receive a series of three different medicines. The good news: Seattle Children's has medications that treat this type of cancer! Ryan and his doctors are the real deal -- complete and total rock stars.
We will do our best to update this site regularly. We don't know exactly when he'll go "home" for the first time, but we predict it will be a few weeks. If you have any questions, you can always call or text me at 206-484-8809.
We are all grateful for your love and support,
Vanessa Kimble (Vickie's sister and Ry's aunt)
