Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Ryan was seriously injured in a single car accident on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. He was transported to the VCU Medical Center. He had a broken C4 disk in his neck, a broken rib and a concussion. On Thursday, he had successful surgery to repair the C4 site and fuse C3 through C5 to stabilize his neck. The surgery was performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Scott Graham.

Ryan has severe spinal cord trauma which has limited his movements for now. He is reacting well to his medications and treatments, but this is a slow, slow process. Only time will reduce all the swelling in his spinal cord and only then will we know what other interventions will be required.

Ryan is in good spirits most of the time and is keeping a positive attitude so far. He is happy to hear from friends, and it is extremely important for his recovery to SEE and be with his peers. Ryan and Caroline welcome visitors, but please text Caroline at (917) 848-3530 before you plan to visit.

At this time no meals are needed. We will keep you updated as Ryan heals.

Thank you for your love and support!
