As many of you already know, I started experiencing pain in my legs and left side at the end of July/start of August. By the middle of August something i thought was just a sciatica issue turned into pain in all my large joints and large muscle groups... blah, blah, blah bottom line end of September I ended up at my doctor who said I looked toxic, sent me for blood work and the next morning Roger said "put some clothes on, we're going to the hospital...Although I started at Lenox Hill, ,I've now migrated to Sloan Kettering Memorial on 68th and York in NYC,
Here my diagnosis has been confirmed as BURKITT LYMPHOMA. A very rare form of lymphoma. Oddly enough, my roommate is diagnosed with the same disease. You will undoubtedly research and find that it is both an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and one that responds well to aggressive chemotherapy. I start a 5-day infusion treatment cycle Tuesday. I will likely be an inpatient for 3 weeks before being released to come back for 5 more cycles in clinic, barring complications. We expect at least 4 1/2 months of treatment in and out of hospital while staying close by with Roger and Kathleen or Richard and Marla.
