Rusty Machovec

I have thyroid cancer.  It has spread to my lungs.
Of course I'm concerned about myself, but mostly I'm worried about my kids.

It has been rough lately.  I was given "early retirement" last October.  The director said it was an "opportunity to get well."  The work I was doing was moved to Mexico.  While I knew for quite a while putting my work in Mexico was a real threat, I didn't think they'd do it when I was sick.  At the very least I thought they'd talk to me about it.

Then in November I started getting intermittent, painful swelling of the salivary glands.  One exam led to another and in February a lung nodule was accidentally discovered.  And then more.
