On February 16th Russell was diagnosed with squamous cell sarcoma in his bones and blood. After a number of tests were completed Russell was informed that he had less then a year to live. Shortly there after, he was told that he had six months to live.
Russell is at home with Polly (Lisa) receiving care through hospice. Russell has good days and bad days. Polly, with the help of the VA, a weekly volunteer and Humboldt Hospice is providing Russell with the care he needs. As many of you know, this is an emotionally difficult task which requires all of Polly's time and attention.
We are using Caring Bridge to keep family and friends up to date and in one place. This will provide the opportunity for those who are able to come visit and assist with some of the day to day needs of the household. It will also provide a schedule for spending time with Russell and help make Russell and Polly's days more comfortable.
As well as providing important information and updates this site also provides a journal area where you can write messages to Russell and Polly. Lets all do our best to provide the care, help and love that Russell and Polly need and deserve.
