Ruby Siemens

Ruby was born in Henderson Nebraska on October 30 1926.  She was the eldest child and has three other siblings.  


The family moved from Henderson to San Jose when Ruby was in high school.  She met her first husband Harry  through her cousin Martha.    Harry and Ruby married after he came back from serving his country in World War 2.  They had three daughters.  


Ruby went to work for a book-keeping firm as a typist when her youngest daughter Carole was a baby.  The book-keeping business was thriving and Ruby was given more responsibilities.  She recommended her cousin Linda come on to help out.  Ruby and Linda attended classes and became tax preparer enrolled agents.   Eventually,  Ruby and Linda would buy out the business from the owners wife when he passed away.


Ruby and Harry spent much of their spare time at the hardtop races As Harry had built a race car.  They also spent a lot of time traveling the country in the RV.  They also traveled to England and Switzerland.  And they loved visiting friends in Hawaii.


Harry passed away in August of 1998.  In 1999, One of Ruby's clients came in for assistance with his checking account.  His wife had passed away and she had always handled the checking account.  They formed a bond over their losses.  Soon Vaughn was asking mom out on a date.  But being the consummated tax professional she told him not until tax time is over.  After tax time they dated for awhile.  Vaughn asked Ruby to marry him.  But again it was tax time and Ruby said not until tax season is over!  The day after tax season of that year Ruby and Vaughn married.


Ruby and Vaughn had many fun adventures flying in Vaughns plane.  They had an active social life with Vaughns pilot friends and their wives.  Vaughn was a partial owner in a ranch on Mount Hamilton and they spent time there with family and friends.  Vaughn passed away after a short illness in 2008.


Since then Ruby has continued working part-time at the tax office.  She also enjoys going to the YMCA for fitness where she has a wonderful group of friends.  


Ruby had an accident while moving her bed last February.  She thought she had broken some ribs again as she had in a car accident some years ago.  However it was a compression fracture in her back.  At the end of April she had back surgery which relieved her of the pain.  Ruby has had quite a journey.  She's been in three hospitals and four rehabilitation facilities.  Today, she is at Lincoln Glen Skilled Nursing facility.
