Royal Adams

Royal has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition. He is scheduled for open heart surgery at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston on June 22, 2016. 

For those of you interested in the technical jargon: Royal has a subaortic stenosis which is causing the aortic valve to leak and function improperly. He also has some narrowing of the aorta and the SVC which is causing turbulence in the blood flow, further straining his heart. The surgery will attempt to correct all of these problems. They plan to remove the stenosis and widen the two narrow parts by cutting away some of the tissue. The surgeon is confident that Royal will come through the procedure fine, but has also warned us that the valve will probably need to be replaced in the future. 

Our long term term prognosis will include regular echocardiograms for the rest of his life, and possibly additional surgeries, should the stenosis grow back or the valve continue to leak. We are told that his life span and abilities should be "normal", whatever that means! :-)

In all of this, we continue to place our trust in the Creator and Healer. As much as the doctors know, we realize that God is ultimately in control and His plan is greater than we can understand. Praise be to God the Father!
