On Friday August 18th, Rosemary met with Dr. Yolonda Colson (bio below) to review some of the results of the various tests she has had done up to this point. More results will be forthcoming and additional pulmonary testing is being done. At this point what we do know is that Rosemary has Lung Cancer: mucinous adenocarcinoma which is multi focal in her upper right lung. She also has some complications in her lower left lung that require further analysis. Next week Rosemary will meet with Dr. Michael Rabin, Chief Director for Thoracic Oncology at Dana Farber to determine her treatment plan. It is preferable to send messages to Rosemary through this site, rather than calling her.
Some background on Dr. Colson:
Dr. Yolonda L. Colson is a thoracic surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center. She is director of the Women’s Lung Cancer Program at BWH and professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. Her academic training includes a medical degree from Mayo Medical School and a PhD in immunology from the University of Pittsburgh where she also completed a surgery residency. She completed a cardiothoracic surgery residency at BWH and a fellowship in cellular therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh.
The recipient of the first Michelle Kessler Leadership Award in Women’s Health from BWH, Dr. Colson is board certified in surgery and cardiothoracic surgery and is a director on the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. She has been listed as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly and named a top thoracic surgeon by Boston Magazine.
