Zea had a Stroke during work yesterday. Her son,Peter, was there and noticed her "zone" and non responsive. She was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Once there they preformed tests and eventually did surgery to remove the clot. She has been sedated and on breathing assistance since. This morning they ran some more tests including MRI. This revealed the clot was not entirely cleared but they feel she does not need another surgery. They also noted another "old" stroke site (possibly from her episode in June). The doctor is speculating that the new site may cause speech deficits. But is optimistic that speech therapy will help her recover. We will not know the extent of any deficits until she is off the sedation medication which they are weening her off now.
