Here is a brief update of the events that unfolded fairly quickly.
Mom had a biopsy and CAT scan. The CAT scan results came back and it appears to be cancerous (but cannot be confirmed until biopsy results come back). The tumor is determined to be inoperable due to the fact that it has already engulfed major blood vessels including the portal vein. The intial plan is to treat it with chemotheropy as soon as possible.
She has anointment with the oncologist on July 25th. At the appointment they will discuss chemotheropy options.
The prognosis is very difficult to determine due to many factors. The best estimate they can give at this point is about a year to year and a half as a median expectancy.
