Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. On Monday, Sept 11, Ron will be having surgery at the Cleveland Clinic---aortic valve replacement.  Yes, for many of you this may sound familiar.  The subtitle of this page should be:  Here We Go Again!    He had his first valve replacement in 2003, followed by the next replacement (and a single bypass) in 2011.  The valves he had were tissue valves which do not last forever.  This last valve was supposed to have lasted 10-15 years but clearly it did not!   All the tests show that his heart itself is in great shape, but the faulty valve leaves him with shortness of breath after too much activity.  If you saw the pictures on Facebook, THAT is why he was in a scooter for our weekend at Cedar Point (The roller coasters weren't a problem at all, it was just a matter of GETTING to the roller coasters!)   He will be in the Clinic for a week, and I will be posting updates on this page throughout the journey.  Please keep Ron and the medical team in your thoughts and prayers; we report to the Clinic at 5:15am on Monday.  Since neither one of us will probably sleep well on Sunday night anyway, we're actually very relieved to have the early time slot.  As Ron so eloquently stated:  "The sooner they knock my ass out, the sooner this will be over!"
