Ron Turbyfill

Ron Turbyfill, a Charlotte, NC to East Carolina boy, found himself in Rowan County when he married Kim Lee, a native Landis girl! They were married on May 26, 1979 and have had 40 wonderful years together. He found himself at West Rowan High School when South Rowan band director, Mr. Charles Driver, recommended Ron for the West Rowan band job. Ron says those were the best 15 years and the students and parents we met were wonderful, many becoming friends and family.

Ron left West for North Rowan Elementary and an Assistant Principal position.  After earning his Ph.D. from UNCG, his career moved rapidly. From principal of Sedgefield Elementary, to opening Southeast Middle, principal at South Rowan High, and finishing his career in RSS at Hanford Dole Elementary. After "retirement" he added an EC certification and worked at Nazareth Children's Home, Kannapolis City School Alternative High School, AL Brown High School, and is currently Executive Director of Communities in Schools of Rowan County.


Our greatest accomplishment is our two wonderful sons. Lee is married to Jenna and they live in Houston where Lee is an attorney with Ron's twin brother, Don. They have our first grandchild, Charlotte Fiona, who they are calling Lottie. Lane is the media coordinator at the new West Rowan Elementary School, with a BS in Information Science and a MA in Library Science.
