Ron Pershall Ron Pershall's Updates

First post: Oct 17, 2021 Latest post: Nov 5, 2021
On Thursday, October 7th, Ron Pershall was rushed to St. Joe's hospital via ambulance just before noon. He had been fighting Covid at home for almost a week prior, until he was no longer able to breathe and made the decision to go to the hospital. With his oxygen levels dipping below 50, it became apparent this was needed for his recovery. There was some fear he wouldn't make it through the first night in the hospital as the hospital told us his condition was critical, but he stabilized and got through it. He He was able to text and talk with a lot of people, and even joined ENCF for church Via zoom. His oxygen levels remained between 91 and 93 all weekend. The hospital has told us at some point overnight on Monday, October 11th, he became restless and agitated with his breathing mask and they gave him a sedative. That should be out of his system by now, but he has been unresponsive since Tuesday morning. He is still on BPAP with maximum oxygen allowance. Scans taken on Thursday morning 10/14, showed slight kidney damage and air under his breastbone they would continue to monitor. They have carefully been trying to monitor how much nutrition and liquid he can handle, as they don't want there to be any chance of aspiration while he is on the BPAP. His oxygen levels dipped into the 80s after he was given the sedative, and have settled in somewhere in that range all week. We believe he will be on the BPAP for a while until his lungs are strong enough to explore different means of getting him oxygen. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, called, emailed or text us to ask for updates and check in on him and our family. We are so thankful for the prayers and have felt surrounded and encouraged by each and every one of you. Please continue to pray for complete healing and restoration for Ron Pershall.
