Ron began experiencing symptoms in the Summer of 2020, including a painful skin reaction, stomach pain, abdominal edema, and difficulty sleeping and eating. As the situation worsened, Ron spent an extended weekend at Christ Hospital for a battery of diagnostic tests. After reviewing test results, Doctors diagnosed Ron with cancer of the GEJ (where the esophagus meets the stomach) and it has since spread. They are still running tests to determine where the cancer started. Ron was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital on Thursday, October 15, to begin chemotherapy and receive treatment to help him sleep and eat better in order to maintain his strength for tolerating treatment. Doctors are still formulating a long term plan to determine whether Ron will receive in-patient or out-patient care moving forward.
