Ron was involved in a motorcycle accident on December 23, 2017. He was in Baja Northern California Mexico on the two lane highway. He was with his good friend Wayne Stevens, who witnessed the entire accident. A truck driver did not see Ron attempting to pass him in the left lane; the truck driver used that left lane to avoid a pothole, but did not look to see Ron attempting to pass. Ron hit five cement pillars  which resulted in him losing control of the motorcycle. Ron broke his neck, his back, his shoulder and collarbone, and ribs all on the right side. Ron was taken to the University of California San Diego Medical Center Hillcrest and has remained there since Christmas eve.  December 26 Ron had successful surgery on his spinal fracture. A day and a half later, he stood on his feet during recovery but soon afterward he lost blood pressure, his kidneys stopped working, the right side of his heart stopped working, and his right lung collapsed as a result of one of many interventions to assist him. In a very short period of time he had a 105.8 fever and was receiving full life-support. Ron has remained intubated and is on 24/7 dialysis. Welcome to caring bridge. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
