An AFib condition was found in me 5-6 years ago. Immediately I was placed under a cardiologist’s care. As part of that care, tests were performed and an aneurysm was found on the ascending aorta of my heart. Initially, its size was too small to warrant surgery, so the doctors simply monitored it. In July of this year it was determined that the aneurysm had grown large enough to require surgery. At that same time, a leaky valve was also found.
So, on September 10th, I’ll undergo surgery at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. The surgeons have three procedures planned. Besides the removal of the aneurysm and the repair of the leaky valve, they also plan to perform the MAZE procedure on my heart. That procedure is done to treat the AFib condition. Your prayers for me, Karen, and our family are most appreciated. Thank you. I’m hopeful to return to my family, home, and congregation in good health. However, I’m also confident that Christ Jesus, my Savior, “will never leave me nor forsake me” (Deut. 31 & Heb. 13) and come what may, the ultimate outcome is already assured – I shall “dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Ps. 23)
