On Wednesday May 25,  2016, Roger underwent double bypass and heart valve replacement surgery at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.  Surgery was about 5 hours and successful.  However, within a few hours after surgery it was determined his blood was not clotting as his liver was not functioning.  Early Thursday morning, family was called and told Roger needed to go back to surgery.  Surgery was to flush out the blood that pooled around his heart.  They also placed a temporary port to administer dialysis, as his kidneys were also not functioning as they should.  Roger remained in very critical condition, with his condition being described as "minute to minute".  Thursday afternoon, his blood pressure plummeted to 40/20.  He was on 4 medications to attempt to maintain his blood pressure.  By Thursday afterrnoon, every ounce of blood in Roger's body had been replaced.  He continues on 24 hour dialysis, has his body covered with heat blankets in attempt to keep his CORE temperature up and is on a ventilator.
