Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On February 14th Rod was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer.  He has lost considerable weight in the last six months and started taking meds in August for type 2 diabetes. He was doing great managing his diet and blood sugar. We noticed that he was looking a little jaundiced so he checked in with the hospital. He had a ct scan and it was determined that he had a 3 cm mass on his pancreas that was obstructing the bile duct. The biopsy was positive for adenocarcinoma. A stent was placed in his bile duct and he is showing that his liver function is improving. The ultrasound didn't show any liver involvement so we are hopeful his numbers will be normal within a few days. The next steps will be a PET scan and to have a chemo port placed.
