As most of you know I had a double mastectomy 5 years ago after having been diagnosed with breast cancer and after testing postive to the BRACA 2 gene testing. Thank God that I was blessed with my loving husband Kouros who has supported me through that illnes and now has also picked up the tourch once again.
Over a week ago I had two visits to the emergency room in regards to extreme pain issues. After the first visit I went to my GP who ordered a CT scan which showed abnormalities of the clavicle area, cervical spine in regards to the left side of my body that was affected by the cancer before. I was then referred to go to my Oncologist and to have a bone scan ordered. Upon the second visit I was then admitted to the hospital for pain management and further testing. The bone scan showed cancer in the areas of the clavicle, cervical, thoracic, lumbar, left rib, pelvic, hip, leg, liver, and kidney. A biopsy was preformed on the liver and will take another week and a half for its results. I am 1% of the population that has the BRACA 2 gene that is mutated.
Radiation treatments have been started in order to help in easing bone pain. I will also take an oral chem therapy in addition for a total of eight weeks. After this period of time another bone scan will be preformed to see if the cancer has spread.
