Robin was born 4/23/17 with a handful of CHDs. Some of them are currently fine and possibly will never present a problem, and some of them have been closely monitored since she was in the NICU this past spring.
The major issues right now are:
1. her PDA never closed and some blood is still flowing through, skipping necessary circulation to the lungs
2. coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta, causing her left ventricle to become enlarged
On 12/6/17, after viewing her most recent echocardiogram, Robin's cardiology team decided that these problems need to be fixed soon because the obstruction of blood flow will only increase over time at this point.
Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, 12/12/17. However, Robin currently has a cold, so if she isn't better by the weekend, we will have to postpone.
KEY:
CHD - congenital heart defect
PDA - Patent Ductus Arteriosus
