Robin Michael Robin's Journey

This site was created to provide updates for Robin's friends and family as she begins her fight against stomach cancer (gastric adenocarcinoma). It all started on June 16 when Robin had an episode of sudden weakness and near-collapse during a performance of The Music Man at Theatre Lawrence. That night she experienced some strange heartburn and upper abdominal discomfort that interrupted her sleep. The next morning she went to the doctor expecting to be told she was dehydrated and exhausted. Instead, she was referred for an abdominal ultrasound, CT scan and MRI which identified some enlarged lymph nodes deep in her upper abdomen. On 6/23 a CT guided biopsy of a lymph node was performed that came back with a high suspicion for cancer somewhere in the GI tract. On 6/29 an upper GI endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound confirmed the presence of a one inch mass in her stomach. Biopsy results confirmed gastric adenocarcinoma with extension into regional lymph nodes. Thank you for visiting this site to give us your love and support. -The Michael family
